AMUSEMENTS

TO-NIGHT. “The Leather Pushers’’ have virtually come to life again in Reginald Denny’s new feature comedy, “On Your Toes,’’ which will be shown lor the last time at the Opera House tonight. This is asserted to be one of the finest of all the Denny films by those who have been privileged to see pre-views of it. Denny plays the role of Elliott Beresford, while Hayden Stevenson, who made such a hit as the prize fight manager in the early tworeel comedies plays a similar role. Barbara AVorth enacts the feminine lead, with Frank Llagney, Alary Carr, Gertrude Howard and George West playing the other featured roles. “On Your Toes’’ is a picture for lovers of comedy and lovers of the prize ring, told in a wholesome, humorous vein.

BAND’S SOLO CONCERT. Patrons of good music are advised not to miss a unique entertainment in the Town Hall to-night when the individual members of • the Greymouth Municipal Band, will render the solos they are to play at the Wanganui Band Contest this month. The Greymouth Band is fortunate in having such a fine body of soloists in its ranks, equal to any band in New Zealand, and the efforts in many cases will be brilliant and most pleasing. Performances of a high standard can be expected from such players as H. F. Vincent, recognised as one of the ablest exponents of the cornet that there is in New Zealand, A. Smith, the soprano cornet player, L. Halls, the euphonium, E. Barton, J. Henderson, the solo Tenor Horn player who ran second last year for the" Tenor Horn Championship. Leo Carruthers and W. Bell, a splendid pair on the Tenor Trombone, along with H. Hope, J. Contessa, and R. McMaster, A. McMaster, L. Hall, W. Malpass, R. Rudhall, A. Heisenbuttle. Each will give the public of Greymouth an idea of the playing ability of the members of their own Band. This fine entertainment should be rewarded with a bumper house.
