COBDEN WATER SUPPLY

(To the Editor.) Sir, —Twelve months ago last September, the Cobden electors placed a new Town Board in office and the. cry of the new Board was “water and drainage” and Cobden would be made. Now, Mr., Editor, much water has flowed past the bridge since then, and apparently the long-waited for water-supply is as far off as ever. Residents at present are paying thirty shillings a year for a sanitary service. Add to this the cost of tank replacement (which must be considerable) and we find that the district is paying an equivalent, or almost an equivalent of the necessary interest and sinking fund, on the sum that would give us what we require. We

know that the Board has endeavoured to find water locally and has failed. This should not deter them. They know what the people want (and are willing to pay for) and it is hoped that before they go out of. ofiice this year something tangible will be done towards the long-waited for scheme. Yours etc., — . . AQUA PURA. Cobden, Feb. 9.
