HOKITIKA, January 12. Messrs W. E. Williams and J. J. Breeze, left on a visit to Queenstown this week. Mr. Breeze is thus visiting the scenes of his youthful days. It was at Queenstown where he was awarded the Humane Society’s medal
for rescuing a man from drowning in Lake Wakatipu. Heavy rain brought down big floods in the rivers. The Hokitika river was very high and during high tide the water made its way into the low-lying streets. At inter Wanganui considerable damage was done.
