Tlie grain and produce markets have been fairly quiet during the week in which operations were practically at a standstill. Farmers are holding and millers being well stocked are not operating. Prices, more or less, nominal are 5/2 to 5/6. Oats show improvement, A Gartons being quoted 3/10Jd to 3/lld, f.0.b.5.i., and B’s 3/5. The potato market is a little easier. The Wingatui is reported to be taking 6100 sacks from Timaru, and a smaller quantity from Lyttelton. It is believed that the market will improve shortly. The price to farmers is £4/15/-.
