WAIUTA NOTES

Waiuta seniors journeyed to Reefton where they were defeated by 18 points to 6. E. Byrne and A. Malloy scored for the visitors. Mr Neilson was referee. Owing to a misunderstanding the junior fixture did not eventuate. Totara Flat seniors defeated Mawheraiti by 14 to 13, after a close and exciting game. One of the latter team, Mr B. Byrne had his collar bone broken.
Mr G. Briggs is an inmate of the Reefton Hospital, where he is progressing favoifrably. Mrs Yates (Invercargill), is visiting Mrs S. Avery. A benefit concert in aid of Mr W. Hepburn has been arranged for Saturday week. A good programme has been promised, including humorous sketches.
The footpath along the main road through the township is in a very dangerous state and needs immediate repairs ,by, the Inangahua County Council.
Saturday was a bright day and large numbers availed themselves to indulge in tennis. The weather changed again on Sunday. At a meeting of the School Committee there were present Messrs Langlev (Chairman), McEwin (Secretary), W. Hall and P. H. Jones (Headmaster). The resignation of Miss Grant, who is leaving for Waverley (Wanganui Board), was received with regret Several accounts were passed for payment.
