A COSTLY DUCK
TAKEN FROM DOMAIN POND. (Special to ‘‘Star.’’) AUCKLAND, March 10. Guilty of taking a duck, which he had killed, from the pond in the Domain, Andrew E. Kelly, middle aged, was fined 30s, by Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M., in the Police Court yesterday. “After- accused killed the duck ho put it in a bag,” said Sub-Inspector MeCartliy* The Magistrate (to accused): What do you say to that? Accused: I am guilty, but the duck was in misery and I killed it. The Magistrate. Odd coincidence, was it not, that the bag should be so handy?
