HOKITIKA BOROUGH COUNCIL (Our Own Correspondent.) HOKITIKA, Feb. 25. The Hokitika Borough Council met last evening. Present: Crs. E. Teichelmann, Jas. King, T. W. Duff, D. J. Evans, G. Heinz and E. AV. Heenan. Cr. E. Teichelmann was voted to the chair. Apologies were received for the absence of the Mayor and Crs. Jeffries, Elcock and Armstrong. The Minister of Health wrote forwarding a Gazette Notice that Borough of Hokitika is from the Ist proximo subject to regulations as to drainage and plumbing- under the Health Act, 1920. A. R. Elcock, Hokitika, applied for transfer of lease No. 2028, Koiterangi, from John Cropp to Sydney Alfred Ciopp.—Accepted. The District Public Trustee, Greymouth, wrote intimating that Sections 1297/S, Park Street, lately occupied by Phillip Henry Amberger, now deceased are not longer required—Referred to Town Clerk. Mrs. Alice L. Dowell, Revell St., applied for wjjater servic.e connection with billiard room.—Granted. Mrs. Martha Moore, Park St., wrote complaining of unsatisfactory condition of Park Street, between Sewell St. and Revell St., through footpaths being unformed and overgrowth of blackberry. Mr. J. A. Cuttance, Weld St., wrote complaining of stock trespassing on his property through part of boundary fence of Botanical Reserve No. 445 being in a state of .disrepair. Mr. A. Cederman, lessee of reserve No. 569, Stafford and Jollie Streets, wrote applying for better tenure.—

5 Agreed to. 4 ’ Ada Ingall Epsom, Auckland wrote ’ re sections 1391 and 1392, Park Street, ’ wishing to relinquish same.—Received ; and referred to Town Clerk to take ; action. ' The Reserves Committee’s report ’ was received and it was resolved that [ a drain be put through to Brittan St. , drain from Cass Square and the ' cycling track and footpaths on Cass Square be tar-sealed and the edge chamfered. Tenders for chipping the grass off before tar sealing were received as follows: L. Hughes 14/6 a. chain £l7 . 8/- (24 chains); A. Cutbush £l2 for . lot of work; J. Timpson £2O; A. Sumner £8; C. Phillips £l6. The tender of A. Cutbush was acfeepted. Accounts amounting to the sum of £379/11/2 were passed for payment. Cr. Duff referred to the unsightly state of the sectioir where the recent fire was (Hallenstein Bros, and Simes) and moved that the owners be again requested to fence them. Councillors concurred and the motion was passed. Cr. Evans again brought up the question of obtaining indemnity guarantees from owners of bowser pumps, pointing out that an action had recently been taken against a local authority for damages. He moved that owners be written to arid unless the guarantee is forthcoming pumps should be removed.—Seconded' by Cr. Heenan who considered it was time something was done. The motion was carried. On the motion of Cr. Evans it was resolved that the Council telegraph felicitations and congratulations to the Mayor of Greymouth to-day on the occasion of commencement of Jubilee celebrations.
