TRAGEDY AT PAPANUI

TEACHER KILLS WIFE DROWNS HIMSELF IN BATH (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, December 10. A double tragedy occurred in Godley Avenue, Papanui, early this morning, William Alexander Foster, 67, using an axe, killed his wife, Olive, 32. in bed, and then drowned himself in the bath. He left a note in the milk billy: “For God’s sake, send for the police immediately.’’ There are five children ranging from eight years to two. Foster was first assistant master at the Papanui School and worked for a time in Samoa. He was married in England.
