Mr G. Blacktopp left this morning on a trip to Christchurch.
Misses Sybil and Elsa Heinz were passengers on the Christchurch express this morning. /
Mrs Nonie King (Adelaide), will arrive on Thursday on a visit to her mother Mrs J. Drumm, Murray Street.
Mr J. Bitchener (Waitaki) has been appointed Junior Whip of the Reform Party in succession to Mr W. S. Glenn.
Mr A. D. Baggs, Telegraph Engineer, left this morning on his return to Christchurch, after a visit of inspection to the West Coast.
Recent arrivals at Revington’s include: Mr and Mrs Slow (Dunedin), Misses Brebners, Messrs Thompson (Christchurch), O’Neil (Wellington).
Mr and Mrs E. P. Heinz, who has been spending a four month’s holiday in Australia, will arrive from Christchurch this afternoon.
A cablegram stated that the King granted an audience to Sir G. Ryrie, the new Australian High Commissioner and Lady Ryrie.
Mr W. Fletcher, who underwent an operation for appendicitis at the Greymouth Hospital yesterday, is progressing favourably. The late Mrs Margaret Eleanor Taylor, whose death occurred yesterday, is survived by two children, a boy and a girl, aged six and seven years respectively.
Mr B. Williams, a member of the Westport Rugby Football Club, was the recipient of a presentation on Wednesday, prior to his departure for Christchurch.
Sister J. Rintoul, L.D.D.G.M., P. Sheriffs, P.G.M., E. Sheriffs, P.G., A. Barsden, P.G., and Mrs Craighead of the Rebekah Order 1.0.0. F., who have, been opening the Golden West Lodge, left to-day for Christchurch.
Miss C. Henderson, Dominion Secretary of the W.C.T.U. and Miss MeLay, organiser for the South Island are visiting Hokitika for the weekend. Miss Henderson will return td Greymouth on Tuesday and will be the guest of the Rev. T. N. and Mrs. Cuttie.
Mr William Wilson, manager of the Savings Bank, Hokitika, accompanied by Mrs Wilson and Mrs Grimmond, widow of the late Hon. Joseph Grimmond, M.L.C., of Ross, have arrived in England on a six months’ visit. They intend to be in St. Andrews for the Golf Championship Meeting before visiting friends in the South of England. Later they hope to see France, and will probably go back by way of India.
