AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE
HAWKE’S BAY DEMAND. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, July 21. As the result of a meeting hist week at Hastings, Mr E. H. Williams wailed as a deputation on the Premier and Agriculture Minister to-day, suppmted by local M’s.l’., asking for the recognition of Hawke’s Buy’s claims in respect to the establishment of an Agricultural College, and for legislation providing for the setting up of an Advisory Board to assist the Government in carrying out the Howard Bequest Trust. Mr Williams stressed that the feeling was very high that Hawke’s Bay should receive proper consideration,as it was clear that the testator had. intended that the college should be established on his own property. If the estate continued to be worked as a training farm for boys, and if portion of the funds was diverted for the use of Palmerston people, he thought the agitation would end. Mr Hawken said the setting up of a Board would simplify’ matters. Mr Coates agreed. He asked Mr. Tlawken to prepare legislation. Ho promised Jo indicate in due course if bill would be introduced.
