STOLEN CAR

YOUNG VISITOR MISSING.

Thefts of motor cars are comparatively rare at Greymouth, but one which occurred during the past few days possesses rather unusual features. A new five-seater Whippet caV. the property of Mr T. Learmont, was removed from his garage on Shakespeare Street, during Friday night. It was located yesterday, parked in the garage of Mr S. Cunningham, of Taipo (between Kumar a and Otira). By a singular coincidence, however, the five-seater Whippet car owned by Mr S. Gray, of Taipo has '* been stolen out of Mr Cunningham’s garage, and Mr Learmont’s car left there. It is surmised that the thief may have run out of benzine, and therefore exchanged cars. The number of Mr Gray’s car is 83 —397. Suspicion attaches to a young man who has been spending about a. week in Greymouth, and posed as the son of a Dr. Taylor of Christchurch, who with his wiije, was supposed to arrive by motor on Friday in Greymouth, and for whom rooms had been reserved al the Albion Hotel. The young man left Greymouth, quickly on Friday. While here he interviewed wireless dealers regarding the purchase of an outfit, and also macle free use of a Willy’s Knight car which he said he would persuade “father” to buy, as soon as he arrived in Greymouth!
