This lode maintains its usual size, being from four to one feet in width. No. 1 level; north end.—Driv- . ing north was started on November 9 oil further distance of 16ft driven on the reef, making a total of 126 ft driven on this lode. The reef is 3ft wide, very solid,• and gold can be seen in ths stone. No. 2 level winze.—This winze has ‘been continued with two shifts for a footage of 35ft, making the total depth from the level 48ft. The reef is smaller than previously, but is f olid and clean, and about 15 inches wide. There is now a lot of water making, and it is questionable whether sinking can be continued much, further without carrying out more work in No. 3 level, and draining the country. Gold returns. —The battery crushed 95 tons for a return of 1540 z sdwt of melted gold ,and coarse sands treated at the cyanide plant yielded 220 z Idwt from 70 tons, total estimated value £685.
