FATAL FALL
JLTSr BEFORE WEDDING. Two hours before ho was to have been married, Mr. Eric Chappell, the son of .Alderman Chappell, of Paddington. was killed (says a London exchange) by a, fall from a window of a third-storey flat in Elgiu-avenue, Maida-vale, which was to have been the home of himself ami his bride. Mr. Chappell, who had been living at Golders Preen, visited the flat to note the progress made by workmen who were putting the final touches to some of the work in the interior, and he stayed for a time carrying out one or two small tasks himself. He climbed out on to a. projection above the window, possibly to fix wireless apparatus, and losing his balance, fell on to some railings which divide the area of the house from the adjoining., premises. As the'railings cannot be reached without ladders Mr. Chappell remained impaled for a considerable time, but eventually he d’as released by the fire brigade, which had-been summoned by a neighbour, and was immediately * taken- to St. Mary’s
Hospital, but on arrival lie was found to !>e dead. Mr. Chappell, who was 28 years of age, was-to have married Miss ElizaLoth Gibson Will, of Hampstead, a qualified pharmacist, who ga'e up hoi position a week before. At the church all was in readiness for the ceremony.
