INDIANS DEFEAT OTAGO.

DUNEDIN, June 19.

The hockey match between the Indian Army team and Otago was played in glorious sunshine, and 12,000 persons witnessed the match at the Carisbiook ground, which was dry and fast. The home team had trained assiduously tor the encounter, and was considered a good side. Although individually, and in team work, they showed no special weakness, they could make little headway against the superior speed and accuracy of the visitors. Ocago, on several ocacsions, narrowly missed scoring, but for most of the time they were defending. The Indian players put on four goals in the first half and seven in the second, nine out of the eleven being scored by the white members of the team, although frequently as the result of opportunities made by their Indian compatriots. Otago failed to notch one goal. The scorers were: Belchamber (five), Cox (four), Susainathan, and Dhian ChandA civic reception and dinner were tendered the visitors.
