N.Z.E.L The annual meeting of the Grey Branch of the N.Z.E.I. was held in tne Trinity Rooms, Greymouth, on Saturday last, Mr W. Stirling presiding over a fair attendance of members. The resignation of Mr H. H. Allison as President of the Branch was .accepted with regret, and expressions of appreciation passed, for the valuable work done by him on the Executive, and the active interest taken by him in. Institute affairs. A motion of sympathy wth Mr Allison in his recent illness was also passed. The report and balance-sheet for the year ending December 31, 1925, was read and received. The following remit was brought forward and discussed: —“That the Executive and teachers’ representatives on the Superannuation Board be instructed that, in accordance witn the remit passed in 1924 and again in 1925, those teachers with broken service be granted recognition of back services for superannuation purposes, and that this be treated as a matter of urgency.” The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—President, Mr William Sterling; Vice-President, Miss E. Griffiths ; Secretary and Treasurer, Mr H. W. Black ; Management Committee, Mr M. Malone, Mr O. W. Williams, Miss Dixon, and above officers ; Auditor, Mr M. McDonough ; Librarian, Mr H. W. Black. The election of conference delegate was held over until the meeting at the end of March.

POULTRYMEN’S CONFERENCE (Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, March 4. At the Poultrymen’s Conference, Dr. Reakes (Director General of Agriculture) attended this afternoon and was accorded a warm welcome. Wi.th regard to a poultry experimental farm, Dr. Reakes said that he had been going into this question very closely, and he hoped to be able to make an announcement shortly. With regard to the constitution of the Association, the committee set up for the purpose submitted a report, which was adopted. It was resolved that the Executive be reduced to four, one for each of the four electoral districts into which the Dominion is divided. This was the President, VicePresident and two members. In the matter of affiliation with the Farmers’ Union, it was decided that the present arrangements be terminated and efforts) be made to have the affiliation with that body without representation. Other proposals carried were that the executive draw up a weight for the standard of pollard; that the Minister be asked to abolish the duty on bran and pollard intended for poultry food, and also to point out to the Department of Industries and Commerce that frozen whites could do all that dessicated whites would do. The election of office bearers resulted: Thomas Bruce (Palmerston North) re-elected President; Mr. W. E. Green (Canterbury) Vice-President; and the following re-elected to the executive: R. -J. Roberts (Auckland), J. Hutton (Otago); deputies, A ~G. Memby (Manawatu), A. J. Stewart (Auckland), L. V. Couch and G. H. Bradford (Canterbury); auditor, N. Brown. It was resolved that the next annual conference be held at Auckland.
