SCULLING MATCH
BOTH MEN CONFIDENT
(Australian and N.Z. Cable Association SYDNEY June 26. '■ The scullers have finished their preparations for to-morrow’s race. Both men are in splendid condition, and well wound up. Their latest spins have impressed, their supporters, whfo, barring some unforseen happening, expect a ding-dong contest. Goodsell says that he is in better condition than when he won the championship in March. If the weather is fine, and the water smooth, Goodsell expects to win, while if the weather proves rough Hannan may turn the tables.
Hannan declared: ‘‘Goodsell is slick but I know the secret of how to beat him. I will be the world’s champion to-morrow afterndon.” Hannan twice covered the full course to-day, and expressed himself as very satisfied with the way he is shaping. He says that he is very confident but is not in the condition he would like to .be for such an important race, as he had less preparation for this than for any other big event in his career.
The race will start at 3.30 p.m. There is every indication that the weather will be fine. The tide will be in the scullers’ favour.
