The annual report showed that ’the State’s, drink bill last year' was £11,349,000, or £1?. 2/8 per head of population, an increase over the. previous | year of £295,000. /Arrests for drunkenness also showed an increase. In view of these facts, it is claimed that a satisfactory regulation, fpr the restriction - J the drink traffic is un ; thinkable, and.the only course was to fight for total prohibition, hence the change in name. ■ LIQUOR SHIPS QUy ? ' (Reuter.) . NEW YORK, May 14.,; Twelve of sixteen vessels _in Rum Row have put to sea, towards Halifax. The officers’ patrol boat, which arrived at Staten Island, reported that two steamships and twa schooners are tire only liquor ships left. ■
