The reported success of the French forces against the Riffs in Morocco has only partially allayed the growing apprehensions that a big campaign lies ahead of the French forces. Genera. Colomfiat’s column arrived before Bibane and encountered solidly organised Riffs in successive lines of trenches, covered by remarkably accurate artillery fire suggesting'thatEuropeans are working the Riff, guns. The latest hews indicates that the French .have stemmed the enemy adr, vance, though a number of French posts are still besieged. . The French fdrees have re-estab-lished their 1 posts, southward of the Otierglia River, and have expelled the invaders. This means precluding any fresh Riff offensive in the direction of Zaga Fez.
The 'fact that the Riffs hold the Bibane Hills has prevented the ’French from victualling several posts in the vicinity, and they were compelled to drfip food for these frqm aeroplanes. They,.also dropped blocks of ice for'water.
