LINTON STRIKE ENDED. INVERCARGILL, Sept. 12.

The trouble which led to the miners at Linton Aline, Ohai, ceasing work, on August 27, was settled to-day, and work will be resumed on Monday. OAAIARU, Sept. 12. At a largely attended meeting of the North Otago A. and P. Association today, a resolution was unanimously carried, protesting against the report of the Commissioner of Crown Lands of Otago, that the lands in North Otago were nearing exhaustion. It was decided that an invitation be sent to the Ministers of Lands and AgricuL rare, the Member for the district, and the Commissioner, to visit the district.

Several speakers contended that the land in North Otago, instead of nearing exhaustion, had been immensely improved in recent years by judicious farming.

This afternoon in the presence of a very large assembly at the Sarjeant Gallery, Lord Jellicoe handed over to the city the six magnificent pictures presented to the gallery' by Lord Leverhulme.
