— The through train service between Greymouth and Christchurch will run daily from Thursday, December 13, to Saturday, January 12. There will be a daily connection with the Hokitika Line and with the Reefton Line (except Christmas Day, December 25). The public would be wtdl advised to avail themselves of the Monday, Wednesday and Friday services so as to •avoid the congestion inseparable from large numbers travelling on the regular train days. A Jersey cow is advertised for sale. A gift social will be held in York Hall, Cobden, on Monday next toward the Christmas tree. An excellent programme will be provided; also a first-class supper. A social and dance will be held in the Ngahere Hall on Saturday, December 15, in aid of the locked out miners’ children’s Christmas festivities.
