ARGENTINE’S ARMY
A LARGE EXPENDITURE. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) BUENOS AYRES, July 24. The newspaper “Larazon” states that the President has asked the Senate to authorise an expenditure of 155 million gold pesos to modernise the Argentine Army. A high army official told the newspaper that the efforts to limit armaments in South America had failed. The Argentine found herself almost disarmed as compared with adjoining nations. It is intended to equip the army thoroughly on the most modern lines.
