(Own Correspondent.) KUMAR A, June 16. The Kumara Borough Council met last evening. Present: The Mayor, Crs. Martyn, Berry, McNabb, McDonald and Spiers. Mrs. F. Forster arid Mr. J. Stewart wrote calling the Council’s attention to the state of a drain in Second Street. —Resolved that the matter be left in the, hands of the chairman of public works, to attend to. D. Mclntosh wrote asking permission of the Council to cut a drain, along the closed portion of Tui Street in order to drain his property.—Resolved that permission be granted, the work to be carried out to the satismction of the Council. Michael 'Murphy wrote applying for slaughtering license. —Granted. The chairman of public works re ported that since the last meeting of the Council, tTie water table on the Zib Zag I Road had . been cleaned out and a culvert in Mam Street xePa it e< was resolved that 50 lengths of curbing be procured to repair the cayed portions of the kerbing in the main thoroughfares. On the motion of Cr. Berry seconded by Cr. McDonald, Cr. Spiers was appointed Deputy-Mayor. It was resolved that in future the price for connections with the Borough Main used for power purposes be as follows, "viz., one inch jet £5; twoinch jet. £lO per year. . It was resolved on the motion of Cr. Martyn, seconded by. the Mayor, that the Resident Engineer be written to on the bad state of the Zig Zag road, and asked that something be done. . . , Or. McNabb drew the, attention, of the Council to the practice of cyclists usisg the footpaths to the danger of pedestrians. —Resolved that - the Inspector take action against all offenders in future. • Mr. McNabb, manager of the local dair v factory, left this morning for the North Island in order to be present at the Palmerston Show which takes place next week.
