(To the Editor.) sir, —The paragraph about the new Chinese script, in last evening’s “Star, ’ stated that it ‘‘was invented by the Chinese Education Department. This is not quite correct, as it was not invented by them, but they adapted it from a- system invented forehis own use in making notes for his lectures to nis students, by a Chinese College Professor, who lived some thousands of years ago, in the time of Abraham. This fact is, I think, of interest, as it shows how extremely old Chinese culture is. Yours, faithfully, M. CARR.
