NORTH ISLAND ENQUIRIES.

WELLINGTON, June 15. The committee consisting of Air. A. Kinibell, Under-Secietary of Mines, Mr. J. Bayne, manager of the Eaparoa Coal Company and the Hon W. H. Mclntyre, set up by the Minister of Mines to enquire and import on the coalminers’ sick and accident funds, sat at Wellington on June 6, and proceeded to Waikato mining centres. The committee visited Glenmassey, where Messrs Green and Jackson representatives of tho Te Akatea Medical Association gave evidence; also at Pukemiro wheie Messrs Seddon an d Robinson attended. Arriving at Huntly the whole of the medical executive which represented the Rotowara mine, met the committee on two occasions. Proceeding to Kikurangi, where Messrs Gilmore, Cochrane and Cummings represented the union, the committee completed its investigations. Many good suggestions and much valuable '"information were obtained during the course of the inquiry which will greatly assist the committee, in making its recommendations. The committee will meet at a. later date to deliberate and to draw up a report to present to the Minister of Mmes.
