AMUSEMENTS

PEERLESS PICTURES. May Allison in “Fair and Warmer” will be shown at the Peerless in the Town Hall to-night and at the matinee to-morrow. A double star programme will be shown on Wednesday. The main picture is a Universal “Under Northern Lights,” with an all scar cast. The other feature is “April 1 Folly,” adapted from Cyntnia Stockley’s .great novel, as a picture filled with surprises, delightful romance and exciting adventure, with Marion Davies in the most bewitching role of her career. Follow her from New York to South Africa in the shoes of a runaway heiress with a gang of crooks and detectives at her heels. “Under Northern Lights,” tells the story of Douglas McLeod, a young constable in the R.N.W.M.P. who is very much in love with Suzanne Foucliarde. It is with the return of Jacques Foncharde, Suzanne’s brother from Alaska, that his troubles begin. Flushed with gold found in the Yukon Jacques gets into a card game with Laßaque, a professional gambler and unscrupulous character who cheats the young fellow. A fight ensues in which Laßoque is killed. There is nb work more thrilling, nor position requiring more daring than that of a private or officer in the Royal North West Mounted Police. These Canadian guardians of the law arc known the world over for their courage and resourcefulness. and the history of the organisation is one of endless hazzard and romance.
