OBITUARY
AIRS. BENTLEY. The death took place at AVcstport cm Saturday of Airs. Bentley, wife of Air Jas. Bentley, of Enright and Co. s staff. Deceased, who was a native oi North Canterbury, was only 34 years of age. She had been in ill-health for some considerable time. Deceased is survived by a sorrowing husband and family of four children, the oldest 16 and youngest 11. AIRS BERNARD. An old ami highly esteemed pioneer of the West Coast.' in the person of Airs. Bernard, passed away at the residence' of her daughter, Airs. Cox, of the Union Hotel, Westport, on Saturday morning At the age of 82 years. Deceased was a native of Glasgow, Scotland. She arrived at Dunedin, in 1862 by' the Storm Cloud, remained there for four years and then came to the Coast. Airs. Bernard remained on the .Coast, chiefly at Ross and Westport. She is survived by one son, Air. Bernard of Denniston, and twG daughters. Airs. Cox, of the Union Hotel, Westport; and Airs. McGill, of Westport.
MR. JOHN O’DONXELT
31 r. John O’Donnell, of Upper Russell Street, Westport, passed away suddenlv in his bod on Sunday evening. He retired at 9.30 apparently m his usual health, but took a 'heart turn at 11.10. passing away suddenly. Deceased was a native of County Kerrv. Ireland, and had been in New Zealand for over fifty years. For the greater part of the time he followed mining at Charlestown. The late Mr. O’Donnell retired from mining pursuits some ten or eleven years ago and went to Westport, where he had resided ever since. Latterly he suffered from a weak heart and was attended bv Dr. Meade, who attributed death t.o heart failure. The suddenness of his end was a sad blow to his sorrowjmr widow, also to his brother who also resided with him. Deceased had no family. tnHZ.WJBIK w
