Time 1.15 b (Loyal Irish is a two-year-old colt by Absurd—Moira-ma-Chree, and was recently sent over to Sydney by his owner, Mr. J. Williamson, of Auckland. This is Loyal Irish’s second win in Sydney.)

DEATH OF A AVELL-KNOAVN SPORT “JACK” COCKERILL. (Special to the Star.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. 1' The death is announced of “Jack” ; Cockerill, well-known in trotting circles. A few years ago he was in the i employ of A. Fleming, and gave special i attention to Our Thorpe, when that ' fine pacer was at his best. 111-health i caused him to go into the sanatorium 1 for some time, and he left that institution comparatively restored to health, and soon after became private trainer to Air. C. Channing, achieving a good deal of success with Agathos, Frank Tracey and the stallion Nelson Bingen. A few months ago his health again gave way. THE DERBY AVINNER DEAD. » (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.! LONDON, June 27. The Derby winner, Humorist, was found dead in his stable after breakfast. Humorist broke a small bloodvessel at the Ascot meeting, but it was not regarded as serious.
