RETURNED SOLDIERS.

MEETING LAST NIGHT.

'A meeting of the Grey R.S.A. was held in the club rooms, Upper Mawliera Guay, last night. Mr G. Skogiund (President) was ill the chair, and stated that the principal business of the meeting- wds that of making arrangements fbr the honouring of the Prince of Wales during his visit to Greymouth, . -

ilis Wor ship the Mayor (Mr J. D. Lynch), who was invited to at-, tend the meeting by the Association, spoke to tiie same subject. He emphasised the need for showing the truest hospitality to the Royal visitor, who was worthy of their'respect and fidelity. Their welcome should be a hearty one, in keeping with the traditions of the West Coast. Mr Lynch said lie whole-heartedly supported the proposal to have the new clubrooms opened by the Prince. It was'his Highnesses wish to meet the public, and the speaker trust- » ed that the R.S.A. would ablv support him at the coming public meeting, which was to he held to complete arrangements for extending to the Prince a welcome worthy of the town, and to make the visit success. He congratulated the Association on its progress and assured the members of his support. Mr Lynch suggested that three delegates he appointed by the Association to attend a meeting to-night at which they could discuss arrangements for the Prince’s visit with Captain Rhodes.

The President stated that the Territorials should line the street from the station to the club rooms, members of the R.S.A. to form a bodyguard. The Prince could then-address the people from the balcony of the club rooms and open the rooms. On the motion of Mr R. Sweetman, seconded by Mr 0. McLean, it; was resolved that Messrs A. Armstrong', J. Walker and K. Skogiund be appointed delegates to attend to-night’s meeting. On the motion of Mr Smith, seconded by Mr Sweetman, a hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mr Lynch for attending that evening.

The President extended a hearty welcome to Mr Harper, the R.S.A. representative on the Pensions Board. AIS T ZAC HAY. The ceremony for Anznc Hay, drawn np by Hr E. Boxer, president of the jST.Z.R.S.A., and approved by the Hominion Executive, was read at the meeting-. Rev. T. 3ST. Cuttle suggested that the memorial service on Anzac Hay be shortened, and that a sub-committee be formed to go into the Mr Harper explained the fundamental point of holding- a service, which was to make a memorial service in honour of those who had fallen during the whole period of the war. It was proposed by Mr Armstrong, seconded by Mr McLean, that*a memorial service be held on Sunday, April 25 (Auzac Hay), and that a ball be held on the following Monday night; also that a sub-committee consisting of Messrs A. Armstrong, (J. McLean, J. Walker, McKane, Father la Croix, and Rev. Cuttle, be appointed to draw up plans for the service.—Carried. On the motion of Mr Armstrong, seconded by Mr W. Anderson, it was resolved that members parade in mufti for the memorial service.

Mr Callinson moved and Mr Anderson seconded, that honorary members be admitted to the soldiers’ club.

Mr Armstrong* moved an amendment, seconded by Mr Smith, that the matter be held over until the club rules were drawn up. On being* put to the meeting’ the amendment was carried. A hearty vote of thanks to the chair concluded the meeting 1 .
