BOXING.

ANSWER TO CORRESPONDENT. “PUG,” Groymouth. —The kidney puiK.ii, as woU as puuciung at we DacK of the head and neck are against the rules of the New Zealand Lcxing Council. THE BLACKBALL TOURNEY. (By “Looker-on.”) Great interest centres in the two special bouts to be fought at Blackball on Friday night, particularly so *u the case of “Emerald” and Long. Bora these lads are well-known to iouowers of the ring, and “Emerald's” early showings nave been of such a nature that he is expected to develop into • a really scientific boxer. I expect to see him pub up a good performance iii, Blackball, and it he shows up to the same extent that he has been doing in his training work, then fans are guaranteed to be in for a treat. In Harry Long “Emerald” will be up against a proposition worthy ot his mettle, particularly as the Blackball lad has improved out of all knowledge since last appearing in the ring. This lad possesses a dandy punch, and with careful schooling he would be a hard boy to beat among the best of the amateurs in the Dominion.

The “Robbo” —“Rusty” bout, six three-minute rounds, is the sole topic in Blackball and Waiuta. The sports from the latter place are going nap on Tom’s chances, particularly as Charlie Pratt has him remarkably lit. If the Waiuta lad shows tho same determination as lie did when lie fought in Greymouth. this scribe would’nt mind being a little on “Rusty.” The Greymouth lads are all going well, and I expect most of the medals to conic to this part of the Coast. There are some “dark horses” among them, but “Looker-on” has promised not to blow the gaff until after Friday’s bouts.

Nominations will be received by the Secretary (Mi*. R. Duncan) up until to-morrow (Wednesday), at 7 p.m., the divisions ranging from bantam to heavyweight.
