RENTAT PATIENTS ESCAPE. AUCKLAND, July 23.—A Raratonfuui, Toeta Kai Nuku, who with Norman Reals, escaped from a mental hospital on Sunday evening, was recaptured near Henderson this evening. Reals refuged in a 40-acre paddock of gorse, which has been surrounded by a party of police. The strength, however, is not sufficient to enter the gorse, and strong reinforcements have heen sent cut. It is expected that a capture will he effected to-night. Air. Muir, 'farm manager at the hospital, saw the two men crossing the road, and, riding up. ho fired two shots into the air, calling on them to surrender. CHRISTCHURCH, July 23.—Albert Jenkins, aged 7 years, was accidentally shot dead by his brother, aged 15 yars. at Waikiiku this afternoon.
