PERSONAL NOTES.
Mr H. Cotton, auctioneer for Messrs Dalgety and Co., will arrive by the express this evening. While on the Coast he will visit the various localities.
The many friends of our worthy medico, Dr J. W. Mcßrearty, will regret to learn that he is confined to his bed from the result of a fall he received while roming out of his gate at his residence in Cowper Street. We hope to see him abort as usual next week.
We regret to record the death of Miss Katherine Ann e Move, second daughter of Mr Thomas Move, of Ross, which took place at Hokitika* yesterday _ morning. The deceased, who had heen ailing tor n considerable period, was a native of Ross, sind 41 years: of Age. Deep sympathy will h e extended to the relatives in their sad trouble.
Mr W. Gee, Postmaster at Nelson, has been appointed Chief Postmaster at Christchurch. Mr R. D. Kelly, at prosent Senior Inspector in the South Island, replaces him. Mr J. F. Chisholm, Assistant Postmaster at Wellington, takes Mr Kelly's, place as Senior Inpcctor. Mr Stepp, Postmaster a.t Fcilding, has been appointed Assistant Postmaster at Wellington.
A largely attended funeral took place at Rarrytown on Tuesday last of another of the fast diminish!rip- band of pioneers in the person of Mr P. Warren, who had reached the ripe old ace of a 3 years. He had enjoyed good health until a couple of days previous to' his death, which took place suddenly. Deceased was one of the early set'ers' and was always willing to help and assist those in trouble. He leaves a widow to mourn the loss of a loving and kind husband. The manv friends of John Condon, of Karoro, will regret to hear of his death which' took place at his residence this morning. The deceased, who was at native of Tippewv, Ireland, came to New Zealand about 45 years ago. and was, for the greater part of that time, employed as a surface man on the Greymouth Hokitika railway line. The deceased, was of a very ouiet and unassuming nature, and was universally respected, bv all who had the pleasure of his acquaintance. He leaves a widow and grown-up family of two sons and a daughter. One son, William, was killed at front last year, whilst another son died some few years ago. A Hokitika Press message announces tno death of Louisa, wife of Mr B. J. Evans, Countv Clerk, after a brief illness. Deceased took a prominent part in patriots work, and was p-csident of tire local La'dy Liverpool Committee fnr the first two years. The late Mrs Ev.ms was in her usual state of health until Tuesday last. She then took a, severe chill which turned to bronchitis and, ended fatally this morning. The deceased, Avho was 52 vears of ase. was a. native of Ballarat. She came to Hokitika'with her parents in the late Ws. Her mother (Mrs Fowler) is still alive. She. leaves a, husband, three daughters (Alice, Fa-nney and nnd four bmthers. .Tospnh and Oswald Bert and William (ctationnmster, Stillwater). _ The funeral tokes place on Monday morning.
