LABOUR IN POLITICS.

AIMS STATED BY HON.. J. T. PAUL. (Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, July 17. The Hon. J .T. Paul, M.L.C.,who has been appointed president of the National Federation of Labour, in an interview said : “The feeling at the conference at Wellington was tha.c the power of Labour in politics is stronger to-day than at any other time in our history. It frankly seeks to take advantage of the failures and shortcomings of the National Government. It recognises that to do this effectively its own policy must be properly understood, and that that can only be accomplished by taking the public fully into its confidence; A strong and representative executive has been appointed, and this body has begun work. W e are going to bo honest and candid with our fellow-citizens, and we ask them to be frank with us. Our miss:on is not to bring about a. dog fight in politics; it is to. serve the people and help the people to provide the best possible government for New Zealand.”
