VALEDICTORY.

MR. It. YEN IS; WAIUTA. On Saturday evening, July 13th, at the residence of Mr, J. E. Dwyer, .a. very pleasant time'was spent, when Mr. R. Yenis, who has left Mr. Dwyer’s employ to proceed to Trent*ha.m Camp, was entertained by his employer, fellow workers, and a. few other friends. Mr. A. Burrell occupied the chair, ‘ and in a, few appropriate words explained tho reason why they had met that evening. The following toasts were then honoured : ‘‘The King, the Army, and the Navy,” responded to by Mr. Gosling; ‘‘Our fellow workers,” responded to by Messrs) E. Myall and i A. Scott; ‘‘The Ladies,” responded to ' by Mr. E. Myall: ‘‘Our Guest,” re--1 sponded to by Mr. Dwyer, who deplored tho loss of a, good citizen and worker, but at the same time Mr. Yenis was going to do his hit in the great war, and if he reached the tiring line and gave as good an ac--1 count of himself there as he did as [ a. workman, Wainta would have cause to be proud of him. He wished Mr. Yenis God-speed and a safe return. Mr. Tucker also spoke in eloquent terms of the guest.
