The discussion oil the Expeditionary Forces Amendment Bill will be resumed jn the House of Representatives this week.

Mr. L. M. Isitt (Christchurch-North) has given notice of his intention to move in committee a. new clause which is specially interesting, in that it will provide for the exemption of teachers and Marist Brothers. The clause leads as follows: —

On any appeal under Section 18 of the Military Service Act, 1916. by or on behalf of any person, being a professor or lecturer in any university or college, or a teacher in any educational institution (whether under State control or not), on the ground that the calling-up of the appellant for military service under that Act is contrary to the public interest, the Military Service Board hearing the appeal shall allow the same unless it is satisfied that the calling-up of the appellant will not adversely affect the efficiency of such university, college, or institution as aforesaid, or be detrimental t<> the welfare of the pupils or students in attendance thereat.
