RACING NEWS AND NOTES

(By “Aeronaut.”) There will be racing at Geraldine tomorrow. Hector Gray, who lias been granted a license by the iaranaki Club, had tlie mount on Lady Beaufort, when the latter won at Otaki. Gray received an < ivatioii. San Sebastian will find I2st. too much for him to-morrow. A peculiar feature of the entries received for the New Zealand Gup is the scarcity of three-year-olds, only I wo of that age in Kill’em and Noltata being included in the list. 1 his is probably due to tile Cup and Derby being run mi the same day. Kilkee will in future be trained by T. 11. Gil let t. Tlndiana, reads like being hard to beat in (he hurdles at Geraldine. As was generally anticipated the entries received for this year’s New Zealand Cup show a considerable shortage on (ho totals of previous seasons. Tins can be accounted for mainly by reason nf the late date iixed for the closing of entries, while the scarcity of horses with the necessary credentials, is another contributing factor. Evidently there is a chance of several New Zealand horses now located at Sydney being brought back in time for the fixture for Air. G. L. Stead has engaged The Toff and Mr. Lull roll Kilboy and Kill’em. The fact of Sasanof not being included in the list suggests that he is to remain for the Melbourne Cup meeting. Other notable absentees are Adjutant and Ardenvhor. Desert Gold’s inclusion is a matter of congratulation. In the Second Hurdles at Timaru there was little to choose in the betting between- San Sebastian and Golden Rupee. Golden Rupee was responsible for a very solid pace from the start, but a faulty jump at the hurdle halfway along the back enabled Naupata to head him. With heads in line , home Golden Rupee was again in front, with Turehana and San Sebastian rising at the last hurdle almost on terms. In the run to the post Sail Sebastian had the other pair beaten and scored by two lengths. The winner appeared to interfere with Turehana at the last obstacle. The* following is the “corrected” result of the Welter Hack Handicap at Otaki on Monday ; —Holyhead (8.7) 1, Bloomine (8.0) 2, Arihiii. (8.0) 3. Amity and Tliouhtful were scratched. , The Coldstream Welter at Ashburton on Thursday was an interesting event all the way, and a furlong from the post Tyne, Aerial and Charley, all appeartd to have winning prospects. Staying on gamely under pressure Aerial lasted long enough to defeat Tyne by a head. Half a length back came Charley, who had all the worst of the running. Horses that should be in the money to-morrow are Turehana (Hurdles), Sedd el Bahr (Cup), Te Anau (Okapi Hack), Minesweeper (Relfield Welter), and Tyne (Farewell Handicap). * RANDWICK TRACK NOTES. NEW ZEALANDERS GOING WELL. SYDNEY, This Day. The tracks at Rnndwick were heavy this morning as a result of the recent rain. Sasanoff, in company with Shrill, did the best gallop of the morning, covering a mile and a.'quarter in 2.12. Kilfirm got to the end of seven furlongs in 1,39, while Beltane sprinted five furlongs' in 1.9 L Oagou beat Tile.Toff over a mile in 1.45. i ,
