THAMES INUNDATED. SERIOUS DAMAGE. THAMES. February 21. The most disastrous flood ever experienced occurred early this morning. There was a heavy storm of wind and rain during the night and at an early hour a small bridge over the creek above the town was washed awav and was carried down stream. It blocked the creek where the cemented portion begins with the result that the water overflowed and deluged the town, depositing logs, debris and silt everywhere, and ruining gardens and invading houses. Many people escaped, leaving all contents behind. Much damage was done and the shops were invaded. Every street was like a. lake and business was suspended,. The town is isolated and telegraphic communication is suspended at present (4 p.m.) Railway washouts stopped ;i 11 traffic.
