OUR FOOTPATHS.
(To the Editor)
Sir, —I noticed in a recent issue of your paper a letter appearing in regard to’thf state of the footpath on the western side between Franklin and Bucclengh streets, and I quite agree with what your correspondent says. I understand that the Borough Council \put an amount on the Estimates in order that this footpath should be improved, but as nothing has been done to it up to the present time I should like to know what has become of the money. Is the Council waiting until the gutter becomds so deen that they will be able to float the “Grmt Eastern” in it? oi' do they intend to make a, canal for the benefit of the residents living between these two streets? Have they used the money to make whitebait nets, seeing that the whitebait season is coming on? I should like the Mayor. Councillors, and the Borough Engineer to’ walk along this side of the road, as mentioned above, to ascertain whether the residents have any cause for complaint, especially during wet weather.—l am. etc.,
