COASTERS MEET ON THE BATTLEFIELD. In the course of an interesting letter to his father, Mr. R. Wild, Hokitika, Sergt. If. Wild graphically describes the occasion when he was wounded. He was wounded at 7 a.m. on May 3rd by a bullet which broke thy bone of the right leg, near the thigh, while he and a small party of 50 were retiring from an advanced position which’ was in danger of being cut off by the Turks. He pulled himself along with his hands and left leg for several hundred yards until lie reached a trench. While waiting there Sergeant H. Williams. of Kuinara, came across him. They were both surprised, but very pleased to meet each other. Sergeant Williams then carried his wounded comrade down the gully where the strecher hearers were.
