Hon. Mr. Asqnith defended Hon. D. Lloyd George's finance proposals, but said that the time had come for a ful] inquiry into the system whereon the income tax was levied, the law at present being a ghastly confusion ol chaotic provisions. Mr. Bonar Law taunted the Hon. T). Lloyd George with surrendering his millionaire supporters. He denounced his methods of finance. He had broken sjvery principle which the past Liberal financiers regarded as essential. After the division, as the members were leaving the House, the National-..-.ls taunted the O'Brienites, and there was a heated altercation and blows were threatened. Mr. William Redmond intervened and restored x>eace.
