Kavala expelled the Government oflieials and hoisted the Turkish flag and proclaimed Essad as Prince. He visited the outposts and later rode to Schiak to confer with the insurgents. The Austrian squadron, including two Dreadnoughts, is proceeding to Durrszzo.

The press severely criticise' the Prince of Wied's precipitate flight before a horde of peasants and insurgents. ' They suggest that his timorousness has seriously compromised his sovereignty.
