UNGLE SAM
IN SPLENDID ISOLATION. [by electkic telegraph—copy&ight.] WASHINGTON, January 28. According to fairly well informed press reports President Wilson feels that the United States is now nearing the gravest stage regarding Mexico.
In view of the serious differences between the United States and Britain over tolls question, the disputes with Japan over the anti-alien question, with Columba over the Panama secession, and Russia over the Jewish question, the press points out that the United States is now facing a period of splendid isolation as Britain formerly did.
Senators conferring with Dr Wilson admit that if Japan is likely at any time to go to war with the United States over the Californian difficulty it will most probably do so when the United States is embroiled with Mexico and seriously at loggerheads with the rest of the civilised world. '
