Activities of the Whips on both sides in urging the constituencies to select can_ didates without delay is regarded in some quarters a,s a precursor to an early election.
It is believed that the Government is preparing a. budget largely increasing taxation on the wealthier classes, and that this electioneering budget will be followed by an election in the summer.
