FISH SUPPLIES

A MARKET FOR WELLINGTON. FORWARDING ORDERS BY POST. [BY TELEGRAPH—SPECIAL TO THE STAR.] WELLINGTON, This Day. The City Council has accepted a tender for the construction of a fish market on tlie water front, containing stalls to be rented by the day by fishermen wishing to sell their catch direct to the public. While Wellington is concerning itself about the people on the seaboard, who want supplies of fish, the PostmasterGeneral’s scheme to bring that important article of diet within the reach of inland dwellers is progressing in a practical way. An 'officer of the Postal Department, told off specially to organise the system, has met with great encouragement from the trade, at least one large firm being prepared to do. a good deal of advertising if it is possible to easily get fish to inland customers. The English post office has accepted fish for carriage by post for some years.

The parcel is made up of a waterproof paper and a kit. Similar arrangements will be'introduced in New Zealand, when the suppliers have been organised.
