: It is generally conceded that any picture - based on ' a popular book and carrying the same title as the latter, carries a great interest with the public. there have been many instances in support of this statement in Greymouth* alone. The Citizens’ Band, realising this, have secured for one night only an excellent film based on Hall Caine’s sterling work “The -Christian.” The picture, which is on© thousand feet in length, is said to be not only noted for its sincerity in following closely the lines of the book, but also bears evidence of great attention to detail in production- Many of the scenes are enacted in the open and amidst appropriate suroundings, thus adding greatly to realistic effect. The production is by one of the world s standard makers and will be screened at the Town Hall on Friday, the 21st inst.
