The Government Tourist Department having asked the Grey Acclimatisation Society for a report as to the li ealities in whie'h the deer in the Grey Valley are situated, ami as to their condition and the accommodation obtainable for sportsmen, asked Mr C. \V. .Mirfin to supply them with the particulars, which he has done in the following terms, which will afford a useful guide for intending visitors. The season during which deer-shootiug is permitted in the Grey Vajlev is from Thursday next, March 24th. to May 4th. both days inclusive :
Loiality and means of access.—Up Blackball Crock, accommodation at. hotel, Blackball, herd fairly numerous and in good condition; up Big River, hotel Ahaura. Up Craigieburn Creek, Young'? Hotel. Totara Flat, both red and fallowdeer. Up Stoney Creek. Batira's Hotel, Mawiieraiti.
Remarks. -The best place to start from at present would be Young's Hotel. Tola ra Flat, where good accommodation, Iwrses and general direct ions kjould be obtained. A good road from Young's Hotel to ford across Grev River, thence up Craigieburn Creek by horseback some distance, when the bush or pakhix would have to he traversed on foot, where the deer are to be found. Season from March 24th to May 4th. both days inclusive. License JC2 for not more than four bucks with not less than four points.
