Mr E. J. Apted and Mr C. Dale left last evening en route to England, where they spend several months. Mr T. M. Dale, one of the staff, with a hand-.-..iiiii- travelling bag on the eve of his departure on twelve -months leave of absence which he intends spending in a tour of Great Britain and Europe. Owing to the short notice only a few of the officials were about and having wished their comrade bon voyage the presentation was made and Air Dale having returned thanks took his departure by the Mapourika.

The friends of Mr J. MeGhee, and their name is legion, will deeply regret to hear that Mr J. S. Vial, of the Royal Hotel, to-day received a private wire advising him that the ever popular representative of Messrs J. Speight and Co., had passed away on Wednesday night after a prolonged illness. Possibly Mr McGhee was as well known on the West Coast as anyone and he was welcomed wherever he went for his genial ways and thorough business capacity. He has been ailing for about twelve months but always entertained the hope that he would be able to again visit his many friends on the Coast, In a letter received only x-ecently he expressed his intention of reaching Greymouth this month but a relapse occurred.
