The mischief which a nail lying in the street may cause was well exemplified at Nelson the other day by the loss of a valuable mare owned bv Mr R. Carter. The animal got the nail into the frog of a hoof about a fortnight ago. Bloodpoisoning then set in, with the result that death ensued.
