The Kennedy i« due this evening from north. The barque Oakhurst, from Grey mouth, arrived at Sydney yesterday. The Kaitangata sailed this morning for Sydney with a full load of timber. The Poherua arrived last night from Wellington to load State coal for the same port.
The Mapourika arrived this morning from Wellington, and sails on return at 7.30 p.m. The Defender arrived from Hokitika »t noon, and after taking in bunkers and mails sailed for Wellington.
The Jane Douglas is due to arrive at Hokitika on Saturday morning with a ful. load of flax from Jackson’s Bay.
' The Koonya arrived last night from south via Wellington and ports. hSc loads State coal for Bluff and Dunedin.
The Pukaki sailed from Wellington at 3 p.m. yesterday for Grey. She loads Blackball coal for Lyttelton. Catain Leech is now in charge of the Westport harbour, Captain Furneaux having gone on a six weeks’ holiday trip. Mr Weley, late of the Opawa, has joined the Jane Douglas as mate, in succession to Mr Gibson, who resigned from the position.
Timber on the sides of the stranded steamer Taviuni lias been fastened to the hull I y- bolts inserted through the rivet holes. The timber is so fastened in order to take the lifting strain when the vessel is being raised.
The following passengers leave by the Mapourika: —blisses Clarke, Escott (2), Me Con non ; Mesdamcs Cain, McConnon, Bhirley and child; Messrs Black, Erickson, Griffin, Clarke, Schlichting, Carr Budd, Espie, Kilgour, Gidson, Green and 'Miriin.
