Tho first two rose together at the last fence, and a great struggle resulted in Cardinal winning by a short neck, with Tarou four lengths away third. Revealer was a close fourth. Time 6.40 4 . GOLF. SYDNEY, July 12.—Pearce won the Golf Championship with 311, Soutar, (N S. Wales) 314 second, Duncan (New Zealand) 318 third, Bidwell 13th with 336, Tareha 346. ORICKETMATTBRS. SYDNEY, July 11.—The Secretary of tho Board of Control has received a cable from the Marylebone Club, statin" that in face of the action of the Counties' Club it regrets it cannot offer Australia a separate programme for next year. The Secretary and Mr Tredale consider that the Board or Control is not likely to alter its previous decision in regard to triangular contests.
COURSING. MELBOURNE, July ll ; —lhe Waterloo Cunywas don by Nichols Ella Goldsmith with O'Dwyer's Livergordo,, as runner up. The purse was won by O'Dwyer's Kelvinyet with Bncklays Black Cherry as runner up.
