[pee press association.] WESTPORT This Day. COAL FOR NEW HEBRIDES. Westport has despatched its first cargo of coal for the new Hebrides. The Raka.noa took 800 tons to Villa and the balance to load to Fiji for the British warships in both cases. A LONG VOYAGE. The barque Mennock coal laden which left Westport on 15th February for Talpairaso arrived at her destination all well after a long passage of 70 days. After discharging she will proceed to Iquique. DIED FROM BURNS. Miss Sughune aged 32 ( who was burned in the fire which destroyed Corby’s Hotel at St. Helens a few week's ago) died in the Westport Hospital THE MURDER CHARGE. Mr Turton S.M. of Greymouth will probably preside at the Magistrate’s Court at the hearing of the charges against William Connelly at Westport on Thursday. This arrangement has been made on the recommendation of Mr Rawson the local S.M. who expressed a very definite opinion when the charge against Halinon and Anderson was first before this Court.
